The wire seal can be coated with a rubber thread because the outer plastic can separate the wire from the moist air and prevent the wire from rusting. However, the use of glued steel wire increases the cost and the wire rope tends to rust without plastic. Do we need to discard and change the wire seal when it happens?
It is still possible to use a wire seal with a rusty wire rope, but it is difficult to use because the diameter of the rusted wire becomes large, which affects the smoothness of the wire rope through the lock hole of the lock body. If the keyhole in the lock body is also rusted, it will increase the difficulty of use. In addition to affecting the sealing process, rust has no effect on the tensile strength of the wire rope and the sealing effect of the wire seal.
Therefore, if the wire rope is rusty, it is not necessary to change the seal. Rusty wire seals can continue to be used. To avoid rusting the wire rope, the wire seals can be stored in a relatively dry environment to ensure that the sealing process is not affected.
